In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, cigar smoking was extremely common. This high prevalence naturally led to a demand for tools to prepare cigars. Before dedicated cutters, people used various methods like biting or knives, often resulting in uneven cuts. Cigar cutters provided a cleaner, more precise way to open a cigar.
This collection of cigar cutters dates back to the early 1900s. The cigar cutter in the middle is hallmarked as British sterling silver, manufactured by Cohen & Charles, with a substantial weight of 33 grams. The cigar cutter on the far right is also sterling silver, though its trademarks are worn off; however, it has been tested and guaranteed as silver.
